World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas made a strong start to his Roland-Garros title defense on Tuesday, defeating qualifier Daniel Altmaier 7-6 (8), 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 in the first round.
Early Setback
Tsitsipas faced an early challenge in the first set, falling behind 0-4. However, he fought back to win the tiebreaker 10-8.
Dominant Display
From the second set onwards, Tsitsipas dominated the match. He broke Altmaier's serve three times in the second and third sets, and four times in the fourth set, while only dropping his own serve once.
